Choose JPG, PNG or WebP for an application upload

Convert the actual image format instead of renaming an extension, and check transparency, dimensions and accepted file types.

Follow the portal’s accepted formats

Read the upload field’s instructions. JPG and JPEG describe the same image format, but the portal may enforce a specific extension. WebP works well on websites but is not accepted by every form. Do not assume the smallest file is the right type.

Convert instead of renaming

Changing photo.png to photo.jpg does not convert its contents. Use Image to JPG to encode JPG bytes, then download that output. Keep the original so you can create a different version without repeating lossy conversions.

Check the background and dimensions

JPG does not support transparency. Transparent regions become a solid background in the output; inspect signatures and logos especially carefully. Format conversion does not automatically satisfy a pixel-size requirement. Use Form-upload pack when exact width and height are needed.

Verify the downloaded image

Open the file, inspect small details, check its properties and upload only the final reviewed version. Avoid repeatedly lowering quality on the already compressed result. If the portal still rejects it, compare the exact error with its documented rules.
