Which Word output to choose

Flowing text is best when you want to rewrite or reuse the words. The text of each PDF page goes into its own Word section, line by line, so you may need to join lines that the PDF broke in the middle of a sentence.

Positioned text keeps approximate locations, font sizes and columns for up to 80 pages of horizontal text. Editable text + graphics background adds the page’s look behind the text for up to 20 pages. None of the modes rebuilds original fonts, real Word tables or editable images, and a scanned PDF has no text to convert until you run OCR on it.

How to convert PDF to Word

  1. Choose a PDF from your device. It is converted in this browser tab and not uploaded.
  2. Pick Flowing text to rewrite the content, or Positioned text to keep columns and spacing.
  3. Download the DOCX, open it in Word or another editor and check reading order, headings and numbers against the PDF.

A practical example

For a text report you want to rewrite, choose Flowing text. For a simple two-column handout, Positioned text keeps the columns roughly where they were and the page size the same.

Before you download

Will Word output preserve all graphics and formatting?

No. Choose flowing paragraphs or approximate positioned text frames. Source images, original fonts and structured tables are not reconstructed. Scanned PDFs need OCR first.

Why is my Word file empty or missing text?

The PDF is probably a scan or a photo, so its pages contain pictures of text rather than text. Run OCR PDF first, then convert the searchable copy to Word.

Can I edit a PDF without converting it to Word?

Yes. For small changes such as adding text, a signature or an image on top of a page, use Edit PDF and keep the document as a PDF.

Where is my document processed?

Document processing runs in your browser. This tool does not upload your document for processing. Optional analytics measures visits and tool events only after you allow it; it does not receive your document content or filenames. Read the privacy policy.
