About this unlock pdf tool

Unlock a document you are authorized to edit using its known password. Standard password-based PDF encryption is supported. This does not recover forgotten passwords or remove certificate-based security.

When to use this tool

Remove password encryption from a document you own or are authorized to edit.

Get started in three steps

  1. Choose your PDF file from your device.
  2. Enter the current password. The unlocked output opens without a password; handle that copy carefully.
  3. Select Unlock PDF, review the result and download your file.

A practical example

If you own a password-protected PDF and need an editable copy, enter its known password and run Unlock. The new copy opens without prompting, while the source file stays unchanged.

Check the result

Open the downloaded copy and check that all pages and needed form fields are readable. Store it carefully because it no longer has the source password protection.

If the result is not right

A wrong password or certificate-based security cannot be bypassed here. Obtain the correct password or an authorized unsecured copy from the document owner; this tool does not crack protection.

Does this crack or recover unknown PDF passwords?

No. Supply the correct password for standard password-based PDF encryption. Forgotten passwords and certificate-based security are not removed.

Where is my document processed?
