What happens to your workbook

Every visible sheet becomes PDF pages, in the same order as the sheet tabs. Hidden sheets are left out: a workbook with a Summary tab, a hidden calculation tab and a Detail tab produces Summary pages followed by Detail pages. To send a single sheet, save a copy of the workbook that contains only that sheet.

Formulas appear as the values they currently show, and the PDF cannot be edited or recalculated. Where pages break comes from each sheet’s print area, paper size, orientation and scaling, so a wide sheet keeps continuing onto extra pages until you change those settings in Excel or LibreOffice Calc.

How to convert XLSX to PDF

In your spreadsheet app, check the print area, paper size, orientation and scaling. Save an .xlsx workbook up to 20 MB.
Select the XLSX file, confirm the temporary upload and choose Convert to PDF. Legacy .xls and macro-enabled workbooks are unsupported.
Download the PDF and check every sheet, column heading and total. Adjust the original workbook print settings and convert again if a table is cut across pages.

Fix columns splitting across PDF pages: a tested XLSX example

This invented four-column worksheet has a total of INR 310. At 100% scale in portrait, its columns split across 2 pages. Setting landscape and fitting the width to one page produces 1 page with Item, Quantity, Rate (INR) and Amount (INR) together. We converted both workbooks through PaperLumo’s server-side Office processor on 7 October 2026 and checked all four headings and the total.

In your spreadsheet editor, check the print area, choose landscape, set width to one page and leave height automatic. Save the XLSX before converting it here. Compare the downloaded PDF’s last column and totals with the workbook. A very wide sheet can become too small to read; use a larger paper size or split it into useful sections when needed. These settings control this sample’s layout; other workbooks can produce different results.

A practical example

For a wide monthly expense sheet, choose landscape orientation and fit the columns to one page wide in Excel before saving. Allow several pages in height when needed so the text stays readable.

Fix your spreadsheet print layout before converting

Columns spill onto another page: In Excel, open Page Layout, choose the paper size and Landscape where needed, then set Scale to Fit width to 1 page and height to Automatic. Inspect Print Preview before saving the XLSX. A similar setting is available in LibreOffice Calc under print scaling.
The whole sheet fits, but text is unreadable: Avoid shrinking a long worksheet to one page tall. Fit the width and allow additional vertical pages. Repeat your header row in the source spreadsheet when the table continues over several pages.
Blank pages, extra sheets or missing cells: Check each sheet’s print area and manual page breaks. Clear an old print area if it omits new rows, then select the intended range. For a single-sheet report, save a separate copy containing the desired sheet rather than deleting sheets from your original workbook.

Why does a wide sheet span several PDF pages?

Workbook print areas, paper size and scaling influence pagination. Set those in your spreadsheet before exporting, then review all resulting pages. Only XLSX input is supported.

How do I stop Excel columns from being cut off in the PDF?

Set a print area covering the cells you need, choose the correct paper size and inspect Print Preview in your spreadsheet app. Landscape orientation or fitting columns to one page wide can help. PaperLumo uses the workbook print layout; it does not offer an in-browser spreadsheet layout editor.

Why are there extra blank pages or very small text?

A print area that includes distant cells can create extra pages. Reset it to the intended table and review manual page breaks. Fitting an entire large worksheet to one page can make text unreadable; allow more pages instead. Rendering can differ from Microsoft Excel, so inspect the final PDF.

Can I convert only one sheet or part of a sheet?

Set a print area around the cells you need, or save a copy of the workbook with only the sheet you want, then convert that copy. If the PDF is already made, use Extract Pages to keep just the pages you need.
