About this repair pdf tool

Attempt to read a damaged PDF using a tolerant parser, then rebuild its objects, page tree and cross-reference structure in your browser. Recovery depends on the damage. Missing content cannot be recreated, and a readable result is not a guarantee of complete recovery.

When to use this tool

Attempt to rebuild a PDF with damaged object references or a broken cross-reference structure.

Get started in three steps

A practical example

Try Repair on a copy of a PDF that your reader reports as structurally damaged. The tolerant parser attempts to rebuild objects, the page tree and cross-reference information.

Check the result

Compare the recovered page count with any known original and inspect every page, bookmark and form. A file that opens can still be missing content that was absent from the damaged input.

If the result is not right

If recovery fails, request another original or restore a backup. Repair cannot recreate lost images or text. Unlock an encrypted document with its authorized password before trying structural recovery.
