Remove standard document information and document-level XMP metadata. Visible text, annotations, hidden content and attachments are not sanitized by this tool.
When to use this tool
Clear standard title, author and document-level XMP information before sharing.
Get started in three steps
- Choose your PDF file from your device.
- This is metadata cleanup, not a complete privacy sanitizer or redaction tool.
- Select Remove metadata, review the result and download your file.
A practical example
Before sharing a draft, remove its standard author/title information and document-level XMP metadata. Use PDF Info on the result to review those fields.
Check the result
Also inspect visible headers and footers yourself. Names can remain in page text, annotations, attachments or other structures; this operation is not whole-document sanitization.
If the result is not right
If the sensitive information appears on the page, metadata cleanup will not remove it. Use an appropriate redaction workflow and keep a private original.
Before you download
Does removing metadata sanitize the entire document?
No. Visible text, annotations, attachments and hidden page content are not removed. Review the document separately for sensitive information.
Where is my document processed?
Document processing runs in your browser. This tool does not upload your document for processing. Optional analytics measures visits and tool events only after you allow it; it does not receive your document content or filenames. Read the privacy policy.
Next step: Smart privacy review.
