About this pdf to text tool

A practical example

Extract the selectable text of a report to a UTF-8 TXT file for searching or reuse. Page separators help you compare the extracted words with the corresponding source pages.

Check the result

Check multi-column reading order, headers and special characters. PDF text is stored for positioning, so the extraction sequence may not match how a person reads the layout.

If the result is not right

An empty page can be an image-only scan rather than an error. Run OCR first and proofread names and numbers. This tool does not reconstruct tables or provide translation.

Why does my scan produce no extracted text?

An image-only scan has no selectable text layer. Run OCR PDF first, then extract again. Reading order still depends on the source PDF.

Where is my document processed?
