About this redact pdf tool

Permanently remove a rectangular area by rendering each page to an image, covering the selected area, and creating a new image-only PDF. Original text layers, links, metadata and attachments are not carried over. Review every page before sharing.

When to use this tool

Permanently cover selected regions before sharing a document with private details.

Get started in three steps

  1. Choose your PDF file from your device.
  2. Coordinates are percentages from the top-left of the visible page. Output is rasterized; text will no longer be selectable.
  3. Select Redact PDF, review the result and download your file.

A practical example

To remove a private address from an authorized copy, set a rectangle over the full address, including every line. Coordinates are percentages from the top-left of the visible page.

Check the result

Inspect every output page and look for any visible characters outside the rectangle. The new PDF is rasterized and excludes source text, metadata, links and attachments.

If the result is not right

If the box misses part of a line, correct it and export again from the original. Do not rely on a black overlay in an ordinary editor or on cropping as equivalent removal.

Before you download

Is drawing a black box enough for redaction?

An ordinary overlay can leave source text recoverable. This tool rebuilds image-only pages without the original text layer, metadata or attachments. Review every selected region and output page.

Where is my document processed?

Document processing runs in your browser. This tool does not upload your document for processing. Optional analytics measures visits and tool events only after you allow it; it does not receive your document content or filenames. Read the privacy policy.
