A typed signature is different from a certificate-backed digital signature

Choose the right signing method for the recipient and understand what a visible signature mark does not prove.

Ask what the recipient accepts

Check whether the form accepts a drawn mark, signature image, a wet-ink scan, or a certificate-backed signature. Those requirements are not interchangeable. Follow the recipient’s stated process for important legal or official documents.

Understand the visible mark

PaperLumo Sign PDF adds a drawn, typed or image signature as visible page content. It does not issue a digital certificate, verify the signer’s identity, create an audit trail, or prove that a person consented to the document.

Place and review carefully

Use only your own signature or one you are authorized to apply. Check the page, size and position before saving. Inspect the exported PDF so the mark does not obscure required text or land on the wrong page.

Preserve signed originals

Editing a PDF can invalidate an existing certificate-backed signature. Keep the original and use the official signing service when that is required. This guide explains tool behavior and is not a legal opinion about enforceability.
